Pack the Shell Christmas Toy Drive: Dec. 2nd
Zippy Shell, Star 105.5 Radio, and Woodstock Harley Davidson Support Salvation Army Angel Tree with a Toy Drive
The Salvation Army of McHenry County is partnering with Zippy Shell, Star 105.5 radio, and Woodstock Harley Davidson for the “Pack the Shell” Toy Drive on Saturday December 2nd from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
New, unwrapped toys for The Salvation Army Angel Tree will be collected in a Zippy Shell at Woodstock Harley Davidson, 2235 S Eastwood Dr, Woodstock, IL 60098. [maps/directions]
The Angel Tree program provides toys to families who otherwise might not have gifts to open on Christmas morning.
Captain Carol Lewis, commanding officer of The Salvation Army of McHenry County, states, “We will serve more than 400 families this year, representing over 1,000 children, in providing both toys and fresh food boxes at Christmas. We are truly grateful for community partners like Zippy Shell, Star 105.5 Radio, and Woodstock Harley Davidson – as well as many others – who support our Angel Tree program.”
Star 105.5 Radio will be doing a live remote from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm to kick off the event on 12/2. Zippy Shell will provide the storage unit for the new toys, which will be distributed by The Salvation Army of McHenry County starting December 12th. Donors and community partners are invited to attend Breakfast with the Captain on 12/12 to see Christmas Toyland before distribution begins.
Last year, The Salvation Army provided over 13,000 gifts to 1,800 local children. Support came from an all-volunteer bell ringing program that raised over $200,000 in the red kettles last year due to the generosity of time from volunteers and donations from the community. Volunteers are needed again this year and can call 815-455-2769 for more information, or register online at RegisterToRing.com.
