Holiday Volunteering

The Salvation Army Crystal Lake - McHenry County Holiday Volunteer

The holidays are the time of year when most of us reflect on our blessings and contemplate ways to help others. In fact, this is a great time to talk with and show children how to start giving. The Salvation Army of Crystal Lake and McHenry County provides many different ways for you and your family to support the organization and make change happen in your neighborhood.

Volunteer to ring a bell at a red kettle

Bell ringing is a great family volunteer opportunity because families with children of all ages can participate. Younger children can enjoy ringing bells and singing, and older children can learn about generosity and volunteerism. And ringing as a family is fun.

Registering to volunteer is easy. Visit RegisterToRing.com and pick your date, time and location that is most convenient for you. Then bundle up in your coats and hats, grab a cup of hot chocolate and warm up the vocal chords for some Christmas carols. And best of all – two shifts of two hours of bell ringing will raise enough money to feed a family of four!

Host an Online Red Kettle

Rather fundraise from your couch? Join our McHenry County team by setting up an online kettle; then ask family and friends to donate. Same fundraising result – just in your pajamas! Set up your online kettle at RedKettleReason.org.

Signing up to Volunteer your time during the holidays

Volunteers are always needed at The Salvation Army, and during the holidays they are even more valuable to help pack holiday meals to distribute to those in need, or wrap toys for children, or spreading holiday cheer. There are countless ways for you to give back to your community and offer the priceless gift of your time.

Visit The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarter’s holiday volunteer page and click on Suburban Locations, or email us for more information on volunteering with us this holiday season.
